「繁文縟節」的英文怎麼說？

不管你是老闆還是員工，你一定都對曾經、現在待的公司有些意見。知名管理顧問Eric Jackson根據他的經驗與觀察，列出了幾項讓公司流失人才的原因。如果你擔任主管職，以下幾點可做為你未來管理公司的參考；如果你只是個小員工，又對以下所述深有所感，那就在星期一上班的時候，不小心把這篇文章放在老闆的桌上吧！

Large companies have a hard time keeping their best and brightest in house. Recently, GigaOM discussed the troubles at Yahoo! with a flat stock price, vested options for some of their best people. How does that happen? Here’s the list of what large companies do to lose their top talent:

Big Company Bureaucracy
This is probably the #1 reason we hear after the fact from disenchanted employees. No one likes rules that make no sense. When top talent is complaining along these lines, it’s usually a sign that they didn’t feel as if they had a say in these rules. They were simply told to follow along and get with the program. How will they commit themselves to a company like that?

Failing to Find a Project for the Talent that Ignites Their Passion
Big companies have many moving parts — by definition. Therefore, they usually don’t have people going around to their best and brightest asking them if they’re enjoying their current projects. Top talent isn’t driven by money and power, but by the opportunity to be a part of something huge, that will change the world, and for which they are really passionate.

Lack of Accountability and/or telling them how to do their Jobs
Although you can’t “jerk around” top talent, it’s a mistake to treat top talent leading a project as “untouchable.” We’re not saying that you need to get into anyone’s business or telling them what to do. However, top talent demands accountability from others and doesn’t mind being held accountable for their projects. Therefore, have regular touch points with your best people as they work through their projects.
缺乏負責的上司以及／或太愛管東管西的主管。
雖然不能讓員工像無頭蒼蠅一樣忙東忙西，但也不表示老闆就應該完全不干涉員工正在進行的計劃。不過，這並不表示老闆要告訴他的員工怎麼做事，給予適時的關心與意見，會讓人覺得這是個有責任感的上司。

Lack of Open-Mindedness
The best people want to share their ideas and have them listened to. However, a lot of companies have a vision/strategy which they are trying to execute against — and, often find opposing voices to this strategy as an annoyance and a sign that someone’s not a “team player.” If all the best people are leaving and disagreeing with the strategy, you’re left with a bunch of “yes” people saying the same things to each other. A wise leader got to be able to incorporate the best parts of people’s suggestions.
缺乏開放的心胸。
好的人才都希望能跟人分享他的想法，然而，許多公司都會覺得擁有不同意見的人只是麻煩製造者，覺得他們不合群。最後，公司就剩下一堆只會點頭同意的人。一個有智慧的領導者應該有廣納意見的能力。

[口語詞彙]

commit (to)：做（錯事）；承擔義務；把…託付給
commit指「做」的時候，通常後面會接不好的事，例：to commit a crime犯罪。不過，若在之後加上to，通常有「交付」的意思，例如：She commits herself to academic research.（她投身學術研究）表示「她把自己交付到學術研究裡」。To是介系詞，後面接名詞。

accountability：負有責任
這個字來自於account「說明」、「對…負責」，accountability= account + ability，表示「有說明、解釋的能力」，通常用來指「願意承擔責任的能力」。例：The accountability for the behavior of the employees rests with the supervisor.（主管應對員工的行為負責。）

jerk around：浪費時間、漫無目的
jerk表示「抖動」、「抽搐」，加上around之後，就好像在四處亂晃，所以衍伸為「浪費時間」，或者是本文所說的「忙東忙西」、「漫無目的」。不過，如果是jerk one around，就表示「欺負某人」或「找麻煩」，例如：Stop jerking me around!（不要再找我麻煩了! ）
