一樣是「感謝、感激」，thankful和grateful的差別是......

有些字感覺起來很像，但適用的情境卻大不相同，thankful和grateful就是個很典型的例子。Ken想要開發海外的合作機會，他給潛在的合作對象的Email寫道：

I would be very thankful if you could send me more information about your company.（如果能寄給我更多貴公司的資料，我將非常感激。）（X）

這樣寫為什麼錯了？

Thankful這種感激，多半用來形容經歷過不愉快的經驗之後而感到的寬慰與感激。有點像「謝天謝地，還好......」，請別人寄資料，對方尚未行動，不會有「還好、慶幸」這類的感激之情。

一起看看這兩個字具體有何不同：

Grateful：有人幫了你，你真心感謝他，用grateful。

Thankful：鬆了一口氣，還好沒事的感謝

Thank you so much for helping us move house. We are so grateful.（謝謝你幫我們搬家。我們真的很感激。）

I was thankful that the meeting didn't last long, because I had to get home.（真慶幸會議沒有開太長，我得趕回家。）

Sherry was grateful to her teachers and also thankful that she had passed her exams.（雪莉很感激她的老師，同時謝天謝地考試All pass。）
