Most people don’t know what a sex educator is.
很多人不知道「性教育家」是什麼

Most thought a sex educator only teaches safe sex and to avoid pregnancy.
他們覺得是教人安全性行為或者怎麼避孕這樣的東西

That’s a big part of it. However, another main part is to teach people how to treat and respect each other.
這個是一個很重要的部份，但是另外一個部份就是教人怎麼對別人好

Our goal is to help people, todevelop a happier/safer relationship.
目標就是幫人（培養）更開心更安全的人際關係

At my school in America we actually had a really good sex education program.
我唸的美國學校其實有很棒的性教育課程

It started when I was about 12 years old
從我12歲開始

and we had it every year for about a week in the school year until high school.
每一年都會有大約一星期的課程，一直上到我們升高中

During the week of sex education we mostly learned how to have safe sex

在性教育週我們主要有學習安全性行為

and how to prevent pregnancy, what menstrual cycles are like.
還有避孕的方法跟月經的週期

This is a unique program within the U.S. There’s still many people who disagree with teaching children about sex education.
這其實算是美國的一個特別課程！因為還是有部份美國人反對小孩接受性教育

I lived in China and Taiwan for about a year and a half,
我在中國和台灣大概住了一年半

From living there and talking to people, I’ve definitely realized that mainland China is less open than Taiwan. Both have a problem in the sense that there’s not a lot of sex education.

There’s that one chapter in the textbook of health course.

可能一兩頁，然後老師還會跳過
Perhaps only 1 or 2 pages, and teachers tend to skip that part.

A lot of people ask me what to do when their boyfriends or girlfriends pressure them to have sex?
很多人問我，當他們的伴侶急著要發生性關係要怎麼辦？

This is a big problem because your body is your body and whenever you choose to have sex is ok.
這是個很大的問題！因為你擁有自己身體的主導權，你可以決定你什麼時候想要有性行為

And if your partner can’t accept that, I don’t think they truly appreciate you and your choices, they aren’t respecting your boundaries or your values.
如果他們不認同，那表示他們不珍惜你，也不尊重你的原則和價值

Another question I get asked a lot is from Taiwanese women.
另外台灣女生最常問我的問題是

Whether or not foreign men are serious when they ask them out.
會約她們出去的外國男生是認真的想談戀愛嗎？

I think that there are a lot of cultural differences in China and America foreign men especially think that it’s ok to just approach women causally
我覺得美國和兩岸有很大的文化差異，有些外國男跟女生接觸

and they only really expect sex.
純粹只是為了上床

That being said, there are plenty of men who don’t expect sex do want to have a true genuine relationship with you and
但是還是有很多外國男生其實也是想好好跟你們談場戀愛，不只為了上床

My advice would be to just get to know them first and ask them what they want and what they see happening in the relationship and if it doesn’t match up with you want

The most important thing I teach is that you have to believe in yourself.

Don’t give up your principles because of your relationship.

If it’s really love, then it will feel like love. You will feel loved.
